Visit of the Asian Development Bank Delegation to the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship

On October 17, 2024, the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship hosted a meeting between its management, represented by Deputy Director Mirkomil Adilov, and the delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), headed by Ms. Shayista Hussain, Chief Operations Specialist for Central and West Asia Operations Coordination.

The meeting was devoted to issues of cooperation in the development of educational programs aimed at improving knowledge and skills, as well as training qualified specialists in the field of public and corporate governance.

During the discussions, the importance of training highly qualified specialists for these sectors was emphasized. Mirkomil Adilov highlighted the significance of close cooperation with ADB, which has seen active development in recent years.

The role of the Graduate School of Business as one of the leading institutions for public sector personnel training was underscored. The Graduate School actively collaborates with international organizations such as JICA, GIZ, and the French Development Agency (AFD) and continues to expand its programs for training managers in various economic sectors.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of adapting courses by the Graduate School of Business, for example, on project management training, taking into account the requirements of the customer, as well as the specifics of the activities of the ADB or the World Bank, as well as the requirements of FIDIC.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their readiness to continue collaboration, including in the organization of upcoming training sessions and educational programs aimed at furthering entrepreneurship and staff development in Uzbekistan.

ADB comprises 68 member countries, including 49 regional members and 19 from Europe and the United States. The largest shareholders of the bank are Japan and the United States.

Uzbekistan became a member of ADB in 1995, with the bank’s representative office opening in the country in 1998. Since then, ADB has provided significant investments to Uzbekistan for the implementation of 73 projects in various sectors of the economy. Key areas of cooperation include infrastructure development, support for small businesses and entrepreneurship, the introduction of green economy mechanisms, and the strengthening of public-private partnerships.
