Round table on "Small and medium-sized businesses and microfinance in Uzbekistan"

On July 6 this year, under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov, a round table was held on the topic “Small and medium-sized businesses and microfinance in Uzbekistan”.

This round table was held in the format of an interactive dialogue in 2 parts.

The round table was attended by Mr. Kong Wai Mung, Director General of the Singapore Cooperation Agency, Mr. Tomohiro Kaneko, Vice President of the Japanese SME Support Organization, Mr. Fatih Gokyurt, Deputy Head of the Turkish SME Support Organization, Director of the Federal Corporation for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises of Russia Mr. Alexander Isaevich, former Minister of Finance of Turkey Mr. Lutfi Elvan, Chairman of the Board of TBC-Bank Georgia Mr. Nikoloz Kurdiani, and representatives of leading experts from international financial institutions such as the World Bank , International Finance Corporation, Asian Development Bank.

The round table was also attended by leaders, experts, consultants of representative offices of international financial institutions in our republic, as well as local entrepreneurs.

The World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the Asian Development Bank, the United Nations Development Program and other similar prestigious international financial institutions and government organizations, as well as local experts listened to the opinions and comments of entrepreneurs, taking into account their recommendations and best practices, and identified areas for development cooperation small and medium business and microfinance in our republic.

Issues discussed included increasing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses, expanding access to international markets, supporting innovation and start-ups with a special focus on youth and women development, digital and innovative entrepreneurship.

At the same time, an exchange of views took place on such topics as the development of the microfinance sector, the provision of small and own funds, and increasing the role of microfinance organizations.

As a result of the round table, an agreement was reached on further strengthening cooperation in the areas of development and implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Small and Medium Business in Uzbekistan until 2030, as well as the implementation of projects (programs) in cooperation with the development of microfinance.

It should be noted that within the framework of the event, entrepreneurs and participants received answers to their questions from international and local experts.
