Cooperation between Japan and Uzbekistan on developing an innovative economy is expanding

On January 10, 2024, a Japanese-Uzbek business forum took place in Tashkent. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, as well as other organizations. The business forum also saw the participation of leaders and responsible employees of the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship.

From the Japanese side, the forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the National Energy Development Organization (NEDO), as well as major corporations such as Eurus Energy Holdings, Yokogawa Electric, Synspective, Arkedge Space, Fujifilm, and representatives of the University of Yamagata.

Within the framework of the business forum, conferences on “Prospects for Energy Transformation” and “Development of Industry in the Digital Economy” were held. Presentations on the “Significance of Startups in the Economic Development of Uzbekistan” were also conducted.

During these presentations, the Japanese side shared Japan’s experience in the field of energy and the implementation of green technologies in industrial enterprises, as well as insights into innovative entrepreneurship and startup development. Potential areas for mutually beneficial cooperation were also highlighted.

As a result of the event, a ceremony of signing and exchanging documents on cooperation between relevant organizations of the two countries took place.
