On February 12, 2020, Republican Graduate School of Business and Management (hereinafter referred to as the Graduate School) held a master class devoted to the topic “Digital Economy: The Essence and Development Prospects”, organized as part of the KNOWLEDGE HUB project.

The topic was presented was made by Professor of UNESCO Chair in Knowledge Economy, International Westminster University in Tashkent, Doctor of Economics, Professor Tursun Shodiev.

The presentation included information on the importance of the digital economy as an important factor in economic growth and improving the living standards of the population, the prospects for its development in our country, the advantages and disadvantages of introducing a digital economy, the introduction of digital technologies in the production of goods and services, and much more. He also noted that it is necessary to take into account internal and external factors, focus on a systematic approach, analyze the shortcomings in adapting data and the problems of measuring the digital economy.

In the final part, the floor was given to the honorary guest, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Economics, Professor Gulyamov Saidahror Saidahmedovich.

In his turn, he thanked Professor Tursun Shodiev for useful and informative presentation, and the management of the Graduate School for the invitation to the event.

At the same time, being an expert in the field of digital economy, he noted that today in Uzbekistan there are some barriers to the development of the digital economy, namely the lack of digital skills, which is becoming a serious obstacle to digital transformation. He paid special attention to importance to the development of IT and computer skills, insufficient level of online trading and trading platforms in Uzbekistan.

Academician S.S.Gulyamov underlined that in order to develop the digital economy, not only software developers are needed, but also qualified leaders who are able to correctly set technical specifications and understand how to implement digital services.

The event was very useful and interesting. At the end, the audience thanked the guests for an interesting and informative master class.
