А workshop on “Application of Impact Assessment Methods” was held at the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship
The Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship holds events aimed at popularization of modern scientific knowledge and development of practical skills of its students and employees with the participation of leading domestic and foreign experts.
Within the framework of this direction, on November 22 this year, the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship held a workshop on “Application of Impact Assessment Methods” dedicated to modern impact assessment methods, such as difference-in-difference (DiD) and randomized control trials (RCT).
The speaker was Dr. Bauirzhan Yedgenov, a research fellow at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at the University of Georgia (USA), author of numerous publications in leading academic publications, including World Development, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of Development Economics and European Journal of Political Economy.
The workshop was organized to introduce modern approaches to policy and program impact evaluation, which is an important tool for improving the effectiveness of management decisions. The focus was on methods that accurately measure the impact of initiatives on different social strata, minimizing errors in data analysis.
The workshop discussed methods such as Difference-in-Differences (DiD) and Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT). These approaches are widely used in economics and social sciences, both in academia and by government officials, to determine causal relationships and evaluate project outcomes.
During the master class, Dr. B. Yedgenov shared his experience in the practical use of these methodologies on the example of specific projects implemented in Kazakhstan. This allowed the participants to explore the practical aspects of using DiD and RCT methods for data analysis and impact assessment, as well as for making informed decisions and improving the effectiveness of implemented programs.
